Top engineering colleges in India






In India, engineering is THE most prestigious discipline in India. The college you get into depends on your entrance exam results.If you haven't undertaken any exams yet, then I suggest you to write JEE Main. Majority of colleges in India requires you to have written this exam.


There are so many branch in Engineering like Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and many other specializations are offered to the aspirants.

Top Engineering Institutes

1.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).


For getting into IITs, you’ve to first qualify JEE(Mains) exam which is conducted in 1st week of April every year then attempt the JEE (Advanced) exam through which your admission into IITs will be decided. JEE Advanced rank will be determined solely on JEE Advanced marks. JEE Advanced is considered as the toughest exam for engineering and it’s pattern changes every year. The exam will include single answer MCQs, multiple answer MCQs, Numeric entry questions, etc

2.National Institute of Technology (NIT).


NITs, IIITs and a few deemed universities take admission through JEE(Mains) exam. IIIT Hyderabad solely take admission based on JEE Mains score. There was a weightage of 12th board exam marks for the last few years. 40% of board exam marks and 60% of JEE Mains score will be considered for calculating the JEE Mains rank. However, this weightage of board exams in deciding JEE Mains rank is planned to be removed from 2017(Declared on news but awaiting official confirmation on this part). JEE Mains is a 3 hour exam will be consisting of Maths, Physics and Chemistry with 30 questions each and 4 marks per question. For a total of 360 marks of JEE Mains, qualification marks to attempt JEE Advanced will vary from 100 to 115. NITs, IIITs and a few deemed universities take admission through JEE(Mains) exam. IIIT Hyderabad solely take admission based on JEE Mains score. 3.BITS PILAni


BITSAT is an online entrance exam which is comparatively easier as compared to JEE Mains. BITS Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad are the elite institutions which take admission through BITSAT. 
It’s a 3 hour exam with 150 questions of 450 marks. Cutoff marks for various courses in these colleges varies year on year. Last cutoff for Pilani would be around 315 and Goa around 280 marks approximately.

4.Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)/ SRM


Other Universities like SRM, Manipal, VIT conduct their own entrance examinations SRMJEE, Manipal online entrance, VITEEE respectively. These exams are conducted during months of April and May season every year. Preparation for these entrance exams is covered if you’re well prepared for JEE Mains as all these exams are based on NCERT text books of 11th and 12th.
